Abstract
MPX Energia constructed its three power plants Pecém I, II and Itaqui close to the northern coastline in Brazil, allowing the use of imported coal. The combined four units at the three stations are equipped with dry FGD systems to reduce SO₂ emissions. Also, four New Chimney Design chimneys were built to achieve both low construction cost and excellent long-term durability.
